Delicate Arch is located deep inside Arches National Park. The best time to photograph this iconic Utah monument is just before the sun slips below the western horizon, but one must get to the arch well before then to get in position for just the right lighting. The hike required a trek across a sizable stretch of sloped slick rock and walking along a rock ledge. This is a popular spot for park visitors, and we encountered probably 100 others even in early March, but they were very gracious to me and the other handful of photographers who set up tripods and wanted to make images without people in them.
