Images of nature by Frank Staskiewicz, Jr.

About The Photographer

Greetings, and thanks for stopping by my website.

A camera has accompanied me just about everywhere since I was a kid, from the “backyard” in my lifelong home state of Nebraska, to magnificent destinations all over our beautiful country and parts of Canada. I got more serious about photography in the 1990s and started my business as a side-hustle. Raising a family and pursuing my IT career limited the time I could devote to the business, but I sold some of my photos, did some freelance writing/photography for a few fishing magazines, and looked forward to a time when I could pursue nature photography full-time.

That time came with retirement from my IT career, which provided me an opportunity to showcase a selection of images from my catalog that had been growing over time. My wife accompanied me in the outdoors many times and she remains my adventurous companion and photography sidekick. We shared some amazing trails, waters, vistas, and wildlife viewing during our 40 plus years together.

We particularly enjoy venturing off the beaten path, and getting to the right place at the optimal time of day for making great images. Sometimes that requires challenging hikes, negotiating trails in darkness, and getting wet and cold, but the experience is worth every step.

A few highlights include witnessing the sight and sound of thousands of migrating sandhill cranes parachuting into Nebraska’s Platte River at sunset, immersing ourselves within the quiet solitude of northern Minnesota’s remote Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and watching the sun creep above the Atlantic Ocean horizon from atop Cadillac Mountain in Maine’s Acadia National Park.

The outdoors inspires in me a deep appreciation for the amazing natural world in which we live, and it reminds me that I’m a steward of this wonderful Creation. It also gifts me a place to disconnect, unwind, and recharge, whether just for a few hours or for several days.

John Muir, widely recognized as the founder of our national parks, stated the following:

“Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”

Muir’s impactful words sum up my perspective on being outdoors here in Nebraska, and in all the other wide open spaces I have experienced and have yet to explore.

Perhaps you’ll discover an image on my site that inspires you in some way and deepens your appreciation for the outdoors. Enjoy your time Here, and I hope you make time to get out There!
